This lidded pot has been burnished to create a smooth, shiny surface. The pot was decorated using a raku method, whereby feathers are applied at varying temperatures to create delicate carbon trails and smoke patterns. The lid was then smoked to give a blackened effect.
Raku pottery is sculptural, therefore it is not food safe or waterproof.
