The skirt of each figure is thrown on a pottery wheel and then altered to imitate fabric. The remaining detail of the figure is modelled by hand to ensure that each Welsh Lady has her own distinguished character. Every small detail is observed, from the stitching on her apron to the ribbon tie beneath her iconic Welsh Lady hat.
Each figure is fired twice and stained in a dark blue and white to make those finer details really stand out. My maker's mark is stamped on the inside of the skirt.
